Susanna's Scraps 1830-1875

"Susanna's Scraps was inspired by mid-century antique quilts in my collection and by my great-great-great aunt who left Kentucky to join family in Texas in 1857. Mary Susanna Lunsford was 16 and she kept a diary during the journey with he sister, two brothers and her mother, my great-great-great grandmother, Catherine Mathews Lunsford. Journal entries note time together sewing and quilting with her mother and sister. Can you just imagine all the fabric lovingly stitched into garments and quilts for their families, and the splendid bag of scraps ezh accumualated?!" Betsy Chutchian
