Have the desire to learn to quilt? Learn the basic skills for machine piecing in this 5-week class. Using Alex Anderson’s Start Quilting, you will learn the tools & how to use them, choosing fabrics, and you will construct a small sampler quilt.

APPLIQUE’
P3 Applique’ Linda Schoeppach
One – 4 Hour Session $35.00
Join Linda as she teaches you a method of applique’ shape preparation that uses freezer paper, liquid starch, and a small paint brush. This method guarantees smooth edges and accurate points on your project pieces. This method of applique’ preparation can be used for both hand or machine applique.’ Linda’s class will focus on hand applique.’

Reverse Applique’ Mini Quilt Jessica Caldwell
One – 6 Hour Session $40.00
Come frolic through the meadow and make this quick and simple mini quilt just in time for spring! This class will focus on the basic techniques of reverse applique. Fast and simple, this is the perfect project to try a new skill. $5.00 kit fee (cash) paid to instructor day of class,
Monday June 5 10am – 4pm
Fusible Machine Applique’ Kathy Reynolds
One – 5 Hour Session $25.00
This is a technique class where you will learn how to use fusible web to make wonderful appliqué designs.
Step by step instructions from tracing to fusing and finally stitching the pieces down.
Several different stitches – blanket, satin and zigzag will be covered with demonstrations for each as well as lots of time to practice. Learn how to go around corners, follow curves and stitch down points.
Although this is mostly a technique class, a small project will be taught as well. This is a class for anyone – no previous experience required.
Thursday June 22 10am – 3pm
This class will include a look at what is possible, a discussion on Color Theory which plays a significant role in Collage Quilting, fabric choices and creating a collage using the Emily Taylor Paper Pressing Technique.
You will choose one of the four bird designs from the book (required) Take Flight; either the Duck, Raven, Bluebird, or Quail to make your collage.

FOUNDATION PIECING
Book Nerd Jennifer Johnson
One – 6 Hour Session $30.00
Book Nerd is a fun foundation paper-pieced quilt that appeals to the bibliophile. Quilters are readers, too, right? Using both foundation paper-piecing techniques for the books and traditional piecing techniques for the quilt construction, you can use this pattern to make a large quilt, a wall-hanging, and/or a table runner or topper for your favorite reader. No previous foundation paper-piecing experience is required for this class, so it is great for beginner FPP-ers.

Beginning Foundation Paper Piecing

Foundation paper-piecing is a quilt block construction technique that will bring joy to your heart with its beautifully sharp points and precise seams. Many people are intimidated by the seeming complexity of paper-piecing, but I will guide you through the step-by-step process of producing three to four paper-pieced designs. We will also discuss different ways to implement paper- pieced blocks into your projects. Come give this fun technique a try! I think you will be delighted with the results. Good for confident beginners and up.

This is a 1 session Mystery Table Topper in a Day! You will create a fun Debbie Caffrey Mystery Table Topper. We will take it step by step during class and by the end of the day you will have a completed project. This is a great skill builder class for a quilter at any skill level. Work at your own pace with personal instruction. Pattern is included with the cost of the class.

Applique’ Cork Tote Jessica Caldwell

This simple tote bag is the perfect project that combines tote making and learning to sew with cork. This nice large tote bag includes an inner pocket, cork handles, and applique. This will be perfect for bringing supplies to your other classes!

Clam Up Bags Brittany DeVries
One – 5 Hour Session $35.00
Zippered pouches in five sizes are perfect for storing, traveling, or carrying make-up, sewing notions, wonder-clips, tech gear and more! You can quilt the fabric or leave it unquilted and add optional iron on vinyl laminate for a wipe-clean interior. Double slide zippers and handy grab-tabs make the bag easy to open wide; attached side panels prevent contents from falling out. When the bags are empty, they nest to save space.

The Portfolio Tote is about 20” wide x 5” deep and is 14” tall. One of the two big pockets on the outside, which can hold a tablet, has a flap with a turn-lock. The inside is surrounded with pockets and has a zipper closure across the top.
*Pre-class preparation is required to prepare for tote construction in class.

This fun crossbody bag is another installment from the Create with Cork Fabric book. It is a great bag for taking when you are on the go. In class you will learn how to make a tassel out of cork, install a magnetic snap, make an adjustable handle out of cork, and much more.

Slip this classy, zippered bag in your suitcase, sewing kit, bathroom or even to transport some toys. This is one of the quicker by Annie bags! It’s fun to make, the bag comes in 3 sizes and opens wide to easy access to all your supplies. Inner mesh pockets keep things organized and easy to view. You will also learn a few “hacks” to simplify and take your sewing to a new level.
NOTE: The Large Open Wide 2.0 will be demonstrated in class. Buy supplies according to size you want to make. Raquel strongly recommends the large for class.

The #10 Caddy is a perfect organizing tool for any space! This caddy has 7 pockets! There is no bottom to sew to the bottom portion as the can forms the caddy bottom. This feature is great to find those small items that fall to the bottom, you can easily clean the can portion. Fee includes the #10 size can.

4 - 2 Hour Sessions $15.00/Session
Don’t you love those beautiful By Annie Bags? Are they intimidating? They don’t need to be. These 4 sessions will give you the basics of everything you need to dive into the more complicated bags without fear. You will get to work with zippers, vinyl, bias binding, faux binding, and soft and stable. You will leave classes with a finished product and some practice under your belt.
Take one class or all four, depending on what
you want to learn.
Session 1: Call Me
Do you need something to carry your cell phone in when you are out on a walk? This little cell phone bag is perfect for that, and also a great way to learn to make bias binding, using mesh, and vinyl.

Session 2: Easy Does It
Easy Does It is a good way to learn how to put a zipper in a bag. You will also use bias binding. It’s a cute little bag, perfect for carrying small items to classes or retreats. If making a bag has intimidated you, this is the perfect first step.

Session 3: Petit Four Baskets
Petit Four Baskets will give you an easy introduction to corners, lining, and faux binding. This small basket is perfect for your introduction to using soft and stable. You will have a cute little organizer basket that is perfect for holding small items. You will want to make many for gifts!

Store and carry your supplies in this handy zippered bag with a handle. You will get practice with mesh, zippers and bias binding.

Locker Hooking

The class teaches you the basics of locker hooking.
The types of canvas, locker hooking medium and the tools you need. It is craft that is affordable, easy to learn with a sense of accomplishment. The designs can be simple or complexed as your skills grow.

“In this class you will learn the techniques of working with satin ribbons, which is very different from working with threads. The learning process is made easier by using a ribbon embroidery (RE) kit which contains the multicolor satin ribbons of different widths, a special needle and a canvas with the floral pattern. You will learn the sequence and procedures of making stem stitches, leaf stitch and French knot well enough to complete the project on your own after the class. You are encouraged to ask questions and the learning will be very interactive and rewarding. You can work at your own pace to understand the knowledge and skills of ribbon stitchery, see its magic, and feel the joy of creating.”

Ray teaches this class regularly, and each class is different and unique. All classes are based on new and unpublished designs created by him. He will supply 40, 2 1/2" strips, quilt quality fabrics from his stash for your project. Because it's an Improv class, you will not know what we are making until the day of class. Ray has successfully taught this great fun class for several years, and everyone is amazed at the great projects that can be created from stash strips. A fun and adventurous attitude is required. You will be expected to purchase additional fabric, up to 5 yards of coordinating fabric for this project. Because you are choosing your strips from the stash it is difficult to purchase the coordinating fabric in advance. The Oasis has a great assortment of coordinating fabrics for this project.
