Quilts & MORE ~ Going Beyond the Basics

One Block Wonder                                         Vicki Watson
Two – 5 Hour Sessions                                       $50.00
A One-Block Wonder quilt is traditionally made with one fabric, but you can choose to use a panel and coordinating fabric or even 7 panels to make your quilt. One-Block Wonder is not a pattern. It is a process. Start with a fabric that has a pattern which can be measured in repeats, usually no smaller than 12”. Cut six individual repeats into strips. Cut 60 degree triangles from the strips. Then those stacks of six triangles, which are identical, are sewn into half hexagons and pinned together to create kaleidoscope blocks. These blocks are then arranged on a design wall or around a panel. Other design elements can be added if wanted. This is a simplified description of the process. Sign up for this class to begin the adventure.

Ray teaches this class regularly, and each class is different and unique. All classes are based on new and unpublished designs created by him. He will supply 40 -2 1/2" strips, quilt quality fabrics from his stash and the pattern for your project. Because it's an Improv class, you will not know what we are making until the day of class. Ray has successfully taught this great fun class for several years, and everyone is amazed at the great projects that can be created from stash strips. A fun and adventurous attitude is required. You will be expected to purchase 4 yards of coordinating fabric for this project. Because you are choosing your strips from the stash it is recommended to purchase the coordinating fabric the day of class. The Oasis has a great assortment of coordinating fabrics for this project.
